We proudly present our blog dedicated to funk/soul related activities down here in Russia, so you can get to know what how things with the scene are going in the country, or to be more precise in the Urals (look at the map and you will find the region right in the middle of the country here we are located).

We intend to share some news, upload recently found music, and promote our events.

Hope we’ll update the blog on a regular basis.

Talking about us…

In fact, our association is of 3 people who have their minds alike.

Back in the days we started as separate independent dj’s playing out records in local clubs that sort of music which each of us found the best. And 3 years before we teamed up, we had been finding out something new, bringing some good music to the audience, dropping funk and spreading soul music all around. And in winter of 2008 the idea popped up to promote the thing we wanted to do most: organize parties and let people hear what they want to hear. Our first venue took place in April 2008 in a small bar 2KU, and we did it!

Everyone got what he or she wanted, the atmosphere, the music was just perfect. We were 3 on the decks. Fat funk, sweet soul, true disco music that’s what the people danced to that night.

The second party happened at Smoking Dog club about New Year's Eve when we had 2 superb 45 collectioners from Ufa city as the special guests. Northern soul/funk/and what not all around the club. Real soul treatment for those who got soul! Looking forward to the next party with you on the decks, guys!

The decision was to hold parties regularly but in a good proportion. Not too many of them so nobody one can loose of the feeling of anticipation of an event which may take place one day.

Each of us has his unique vision on the music we promote focusing on the particular sound say whether it’s 60’s, mid 70’s or late 70’s. Also we cover some modern stuff too. Modern funk and soul produced in the period of 2000-09 that’s the sound we like as well.

45 r.p.m Brand new podcast




Recently we started a new project actually it’s a podcast on urbansoul.ru station
We called it 45 r.p.m and during 1 hour (it’s supposed to be 1 hour longer soon) we telling facts from the history, making a brief overview on that or this sound or production. Take a listen and give us a feedback. But, please, note that podcast is in Russian.
